Ice Experiment Observations

Our daily reflection on Friday tracked our ice experiment observations thus far.  We plan to check in again on Monday after a weekend of cold temperatures :)

Time to check in on that ice!  We observe the ice that we made on Friday and document our thinking one more time.  We notice:
-there are bubbles inside the ice
-that it's slippery when we hold it (it starts to melt!)
-the ice turns our hands whatever color we added to our water
-the color of the ice cube is darker than the liquid that melts away
-we can paint in the snow with our ice cubes!
-we can finger paint with the colored water that melts from our ice
-ice melts in our pockets :)
-that if we keep the ice in the shade, it won't melt as quickly as in the sun
Such scientists we are!

Lucas creates a conveyer belt by pushing crates up the slide today during recess.  He notices that the further he pushes, the more the crates crash to the ground on the other side.

We gather during meeting to check in about our ice observations.
We have fully developed a scientific procedure and have successfully completed all the steps.
Mission complete!  Messy hands and all!
