We are Bucket Fillers!

We read our favorite class book today during morning meeting.  This afternoon, we will begin sharing our own ideas of what it looks and feels like to fill people's buckets.  It is so important for each of us to know that we are in control of our words and actions and how they may impact others.  This is the foundation of our classroom community and these kiddos totally get it! :)

Another one of our favorites!  "Even though dinosaur friends may fight, there is always a way to make it right."  We often use books to drive our curriculum...they are such a wonderful way to explore new topics and to make connections.

We explore kinetic sand with a variety of interesting materials today during morning free choice.

Raylan continues to make his "airport" out of puzzle bits.  Such a great way to hone those fine motor skills!

Tyler balances pine cones on the tubes while he's building.  Look at that concentration!

Ms. Juli teaches us a whole bunch of songs during recess.  So fun!

That's a Wrap on Day 2!

Friends build animal homes during morning free choice.  We love building with creative recycled, refurbished and natural materials.

Look at this awesome listeners!  It's not easy navigating a classroom with 17 of your peers :)

We finally excavated that golf ball!  Great teamwork and perseverance, friends!

Charlie, Eamonn and Lexi line up for a quick pic after we take individual photos for our birthday board (stay tuned for that...it will be up soon!).  Eamonn looks less than impressed...hahaha!

"Hey, look at me!  I'm the Muffin Man!"

We squeeze a little math problem into our afternoon snack routine.  There were 16 of us and we had to figure out how many of us needed to be on each side of the picnic table in order to make it equal.
8 + 8 = 16!!!!  We also talked about how 16 is an even number and can be split into two equal parts.

First Day of School!

Ernest signs in first thing.  We all did such a great job with our morning routine...especially writing our names!

Friends make placemats to use during snacks and lunch.  This will make it so that our morning and afternoon snack helpers can start recognizing their friends names.  What a great way to encourage and reinforce those early literacy skills!

Our magnifying blocks were a hit this morning :)

Friends LOVED exploring our nature table.  Weighing rocks, sea shells, acorns and sea glass gave us lots to talk about!  So many math concepts rolled into one exploration!

Eamonn enjoys the sand table and construction vehicles during morning free choice.

Who doesn't love a snuggle with a good book?!?!?!

Friends pause for a photo opp in the block area.  Seriously, Ms. Christina?  Another picture?

We pass the globe to each friend during our "Hello Hello" song.  This is always such a great way to start our morning meetings.

Snack time!  Cheeeeeeeeese!

Graham, the puzzle master, works on our train puzzle during quiet choices.  Nice work, Graham!

Lexi and Lorelei work together to complete our alphabet puzzle...great teamwork!

Friends enjoy one of our books on CD during quiet choices.  We love Peanut Butter and Cupcake!

Acorns galore!

Friends find a golf ball buried in our mud kitchen dirt pile.  They work very hard to excavate said golf ball to no avail.  Stay tuned...I think we'll get it during afternoon recess!

Drew takes a break from outdoor play.  Being a Discoverer is exhausting!

Graham gets cozy before rest time.

Before we all snuggle in for rest time, we gather for a read aloud.
