Our Bucket Filling Project!

In the Discovery classroom, we strive to create a safe, positive, welcoming and inclusive community in our classroom.  The foundation of this community nurtures children to be SAFE, KIND, FLEXIBLE and RESPECTFUL.  You will hear us use these words extensively (ad nauseam in fact) over the next year...they are our backbone!  We also talk extensively about being "bucket fillers" and how we can show acts of kindness each and every day to fill others' buckets.  We use the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids by Carol McCloud often and will refer to it throughout the entire school year.  If you don't have a copy, you may consider grabbing one...it's an incredible book that gives children a concrete visual to help understand what can be a very abstract concept.

Check out these photos from our classroom bucket filling project!  Pay close attention to all of the wonderfully KIND things that we can say and do for others :)  We are already so proud of these kiddos for making this part of their daily experiences.
