Our Kites Take Their Maiden Voyage!

A delicious dinner for three :)

While outside today, we were absolute ROCKSTARS cleaning up and stacking our crates.
We learned the true value of the saying, "Many hands make light work."

We trace insect trails witch chalk on some of our logs...how cool!

Myles and Lucas take a break from building for a little photo op.

Friends get super creative with their kite flying during recess.
If at first you don't succeed, fly fly again :)

Logan brings in homemade wooden handles to share with Tad.
"Look at these!  These handles will be perfect for our kite, Tad!!!!"
We love it when friends talk to their families about our projects and extend their learning at home...what a great idea, Logan!

Outdoor Fun!

Kite Exploration

Our kite exploration begins with a great discussion.  What do we know about kites?  Which materials are needed to make a kite?  Stay tuned for more kite engineering!

We watch a video about unique kites.  This totally changes our thinking of traditional kites and what they look like...so cool!

K is for Kite Engineering!

Friends finally get to put their ideas and engineering skills to the test today!  Session one of our kite building is in the books.  Ask your child to tell you all about their ideas and how it went today!

Letter K Sound Circle

During morning meeting, I introduce a slew of new library books from the Brownell Library.  These K books range from Kites, Kittens, Kangaroos, Kindness, Martin Luther King, Coretta Scott King to Kindergarten!  Thank you to Sarah at the Brownell Library Youth Desk for gathering these amazing books for us!

Friends enjoy checking out the new books together.  Each day this week, we will read one before morning snack :)

Our letter K sound circle.  Nice work, everyone!

Lucas was hard at work in the block area sorting various items by color.

Isabelle uses the plus plus toys to create people.  And look at that rainbow...hooray for diversity!

"Ms. Karyl, take a picture of my woodchip snow man so Ms. Christina can put it on the blog."
You got it, Lucas!

Andy Makes a Kite!

Andy takes Ms. Katie up on her challenge of making a kite at home this weekend.  Looks great, Andy!  We can't wait to hear all about it on Monday!
