Bucket Filling and Body Tracing

Friends finish up their work with the kind words and actions used to fill our classroom bucket.

Our display looks awesome...check it out the next time you're in our classroom!  Ask your child how he/she shows kindness and empathy in our classroom on a daily basis :)

Using various photos, friends sort through bucket filling words/actions (checking on someone who is hurt or sad, sharing materials, complimenting a friend, etc.) and those that are bucket dipping (i.e. ignoring someone, teasing, excluding, etc.) words/actions.

Lorelei celebrates her birthday with us on Friday.  Happiest of birthdays to you, Lorelei!

All aboard!

Alice and Lillian use the dry erase boards to draw pictures and practicing writing letters during afternoon free choice.

We kick off our "All About Me" unit with body tracings this afternoon.  We will also work on self portraits and graphing activities along with reading books about various family structures.
We will focus on what makes each and every one of us unique and special and also what connects us all together as a class and a community.

Busy Bees!

We start our morning off exploring the water marbles that are in our texture bin.  They start out as tiny little orbs, but as they absorb the water in our bin, they grow and grow and GROW!  We love scooping, measuring, pouring, sorting and analyzing them.
We are scientists and we observe EVERYTHING!

Lillian enjoys sifting flour for the blueberry muffins she is making me for breakfast.  Thanks, Lillian...they were delicious!

Today during morning meeting, we read How Full is Your Bucket? This story is about a boy named Felix who experiences having both a FULL bucket and an EMPTY bucket throughout his day.
"I love these books!" Whitney exclaims :)

TRAIN!!!!!!

Whitney, Cassadee, Emma and Addy pick some delicious ripe cherry tomatoes during recess.  Yummy!

Sawyer's mom from the Explorers' class donates some awesome loose materials for our playground today.  Everyone loves those huge tree stumps, SUV tires and square pavers!
We can't wait to paint the pavers and create an outdoor hopscotch area.  Stay tuned!
Thanks again, Angie Hill!

Classroom Bucket Project

Discoverers are greeted this morning with Cassadee's awesome drawing :)

To get friends thinking about all of the kind things that they can say and do to fill others' buckets, we start off our day with this writing/drawing prompt.

Friends work on the hearts and stars that will be added to our classroom bucket once it's finished.  Stay tuned!

"Hey, I totally got the hang of this puzzle!"  Nice work, Kai!
